The routine visits are
out on the streets, sitting on the pavements to talk and provide nourishment
for any person in need. Many contacts with the Authorities, charities and others doing a similar work have been made. Marc and Julie now have good links with social workers, probation officers, housing associations, drug workers, substance misuse rehabilitation establishments and churches in the Oxford area. They correspond with and visit friends in prison, and when people are in Court, either attend or find someone to be there so that people with no family have support. Bills and benefits paperwork can be complex to educated people living normal lives so to those with chaotic lifestyles who may be depressed or unable to read properly, Marc and Julie offer help. At Christmas, Marc and Julie supported by other Christians, organise a quality buffet meal for scores of homeless people. Although money is given for that venture, much of the catering needs are donated by local and national businesses. As Christians, Marc and Julie introduce friends with backgrounds of addictions
and crime 'from the street' to churches in Oxford, accompanying them whenever
possible. Little by little lives are changing - for the better. |
